Beyond The Slate Preview

The creative industry is bigger than performance roles

Many creatives struggle to navigate the professional landscape because they are only exposed to performance roles.

About Beyond The Slate

Beyond The Slate is a creative industry transition programme designed to support creatives in gaining clarity, building professional capacity, and accessing real opportunities within the creative ecosystem.

Our Vision

To become a leading platform that shapes, supports and connects creatives to sustainable career opportunities within the African and global creative industry.

Our Mission

To equip creatives with the clarity, skills, experience and industry access required to successfully transition into professional roles within the creative ecosystem.

Why Beyond The Slate

The entertainment industry offers diverse career opportunities across theatre, film, media, festivals, and creative organisations. Yet most creatives lack awareness of these roles and structured pathways to access them. We exist to change that by providing a system that moves participants from learning to actual industry experience.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

For Participants

Do I need experience?

No. We accept beginners to early-career. We test for commitment, not CV.

Is this only for one creative sector?

No. The program focuses on career pathways across the creative ecosystem, including production, management, communications, events, content and operational roles.

Is the internship paid?

Internships are for learning and portfolio building. Stipends depend on host organisation policy. We prioritise hosts who provide stipends.

For Partners

What’s expected of internship hosts?

Provide a real project brief, a supervisor for feedback, and 6 weeks of work. We handle contracts and check-ins.

What if the intern isn’t a fit?

Our Internship Coordinator mediates. We pre-vet to reduce this risk.

Can we hire them after?

Yes. That’s the goal. No placement fees for Cohort 1 partners.
